Drains

Topic: Sample Topic

Hi

Below is the latest update on the drains.

Jason has been in touch with the City Council Engineer again and reported to the Board last night.

    • The discussion was positive.
    • The Council will weed rake before Xmas
    • They would undertake a 2nd spray before Xmas
    • Removal of some high points of sediment will be undertaken. i.e. where the willow was on the 3rd/6th
    • They are considering lowering the culvert levels by the green keepers shed and in the adjacent airport land to improve flow down stream.
    • The solution for a reasonable water flow is still to remove the sediment and weed.
    • The Engineers, Beca’s have advised they will undertake further drainage surveys today to assess the storm water impacts of the proposed Maunganui/Girven Rd intersection options.
    • NZ Transit have issued a further communiqué on the Maunganui/Girven Rd intersection advising that option 3 was the best long term option and they have added option 3A; both of which realign the railway through the golf course. They have advised a delay in reaching the final decision.
    • A full digger removal of the sediment will not occur until after the decision on the Maunganui/Girven Rd intersection is decided and it's impact on the storm water discharge. This is all non-specific and frustrating.
    • I am to write to the Council again expressing the member’s frustration at the state of the drains and the time it has taken to come to a final answer.
The outcome of the above is we will review the state of the drains after the initial work prior to Christmas and consider whether this is an appropriate stage for us to undertake maintenance ourselves, to keep the drains in an acceptable condition.
